The critical role of alumni and family philanthropy

This year the University of St Andrews achieved a historic double first by being ranked Number 1 in the UK by both the Guardian University Guide and The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide. It is also the third year in a row that we have been given the top ranking by one or other of these guides - an endorsement of the excellence we deliver in teaching, student experience and career prospects post-graduation. Alumni and family philanthropy have played a critical role in helping us to achieve this

The global St Andrews community has enabled us to build the award-winning Laidlaw Music Centre, to restore the iconic Younger Hall to its original splendour and - most recently - to increase the level of support available for students facing financial hardship. This has been particularly important during the past year because of the cost of living crisis: thanks to your support we have awarded 33% more hardship grants and increased the number of undergraduate Wardlaw Scholarships awarded by 40%. Your support is directly helping to change the lives of those most severely impacted by the current economic challenges, and we can't thank you enough for your kindness.

We would like to invite you to consider making a gift, so we can continue providing the very best experience for all St Andrews students.

We value the many ways that our St Andrews alumni and families contribute to the richness of our community - as event hosts, admissions volunteers, participants in Careers and Entrepreneurship Centre activities and as donors. As a team of four based here in the United States, my colleagues and I would welcome the opportunity to talk to you about how your support can benefit the University and its world-leading learning, teaching and research.
