Please support Sport at St Andrews
Sport plays a significant part in student life at St Andrews: over half of our students participate in physical activities. With this in mind, the University has invested in a major £14 million refurbishment and extension of the indoor sports facilities and recruited a number of highly qualified, specialist staff to help realise our vision of achieving excellence in sport, enhancing the student experience through sport, and increasing engagement in sport within and outwith the University.
Find out more about the different ways you can support sport at St Andrews below.
Sports Clubs
Sports Clubs form an integral part of the unique St Andrews experience: they help students to integrate into the University community, feel a sense of belonging and make lasting friendships.
The vast majority of clubs are run by students and offer activities for all levels of ability at both competitive and recreational level. Although the University subsidises the clubs through Saints Sport to help pay for competition entries, transport, facility hire and coaching, they often need to raise funds themselves for additional equipment and extra coaching.
If you would like to support a specific club, please select 'Other' from the menu above and add the Sport Club name into the 'Additional Instructions' box. If you are happy to support Saints Sport in general with funds being used where most needed, please select the 'Saints Sport (general purposes)' option above.
Sport Scholarships & Performance Programmes
Our sports scholarships and awards have been developed to attract and then financially support exceptional students who wish to continue their sport at a high level whilst furthering their education at St Andrews. These are available at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Saints Performance Scholarships exist for Basketball, Football (soccer), Golf, Field Hockey, Netball, Lacrosse, Rowing (Boat) Rugby, Tennis and Water Polo. Find out more about the sport performance programme here.
In addition students can benefit from a postgraduate St Leonard's Masters Scholarship. This scheme allow applicants to draw on their professional and life experiences to demonstrate resilience, resourcefulness, and commitment. Applicants are asked to explicitly articulate their potential using both academic and professional or life experiences. Excellence can be demonstrated in music and theatre or leadership in sports or civic duty as well as in formally assessed academic work.
